Swinside Lodge Country House Hotel is a unique Georgian Lakeland property set in its own gardens situated at the foot of Cat Bells in the beautiful Newlands Valley , making it one of the best Keswick Hotels. It is surrounded by fells - Skiddaw, Blencathra, Cat Bells, Causey Pike & Swinside.

The garden teems with birds, is visited by red squirrels, hares and has resident pheasants. Relax in the unimaginable quiet of the area, taking in the wealth of exceptional views! Leave your car and enjoy walking, climbing, sailing, bird watching etc .

The tranquil beauty of the shores of Derwentwater is a mere 5 minute stroll away where the Keswick launch provides a regular service round the lake.


The entire area is a perfect place for the nature lover as well as an ideal base from which to tour and explore the many treasures of the English Lakes!


Swinside Lodge hotel offers a range of rooms.
All of our seven bedrooms are tastefully & calmly decorated in the Country House style,
offering a high degree of comfort and relaxation.

Each bedroom has a view either to Skiddaw & Blencathra or to Cat Bells & Causey Pike. Tea making facilities, central heating, clock radio, TV and DVD player help to make your stay comfortable. You may select a CD or DVD from our hotel collection
to use during your stay.

We offer Super King || Twin || King Double|| or Standard Double bedded rooms
all with ensuite facilities.
You can relax with Duck Island toiletries.

The ambience is calm, relaxing & pampering. Fresh flowers are placed in the public rooms. You will find a wide range of books from guide books through to history and fiction. Also available are local maps, and weather forecasts.

Within our AA 2 Rosette Restaurant we offer a fixed but daily changing 4 course dinner with individuals dietry requirements carefully catered for with each meal prepared where possible with the finest fresh locally sourced ingredients. Soups, breads and ice creams are just some of the home-made delights that testify to the skills and dedication of our well-respected chef! Selections of fresh vegetables accompany the main course and each evening we offer a traditional hot pudding, a cold dessert and a selection of fine Cumbrian cheeses. Our chef has even been known to share a recipe!
We are recommended by Michelin as a very 'Pleasant Hotel'

Equal importance is given to the preparation of vegetarian dishes and those guests requiring special diets are happily catered for.

Aperitifs and canapés are offered before dinner and coffee, or tea, and petits fours will round off a memorable evening.

Dinner is incomplete without fine wine to complement our chef, Clive Imber's delicious cuisine. At the Lodge we offer wines sourced from family growers who use traditional methods, observe conservation cultivation in order to respect the environment and produce ‘clean' wines. The wine list has recently been extended with a choice of 130 wines.
